ESPN reportedly banned Keith Law, one of its baseball writers, from Twitter Wednesday after Law defended evolution in an argument on the social networking website.

The ban took place after Law argued with baseball analyst and former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who defended creationism and criticized evolution one week prior to Law's suspension, according to Deadspin. Law responded to Schilling by saying he has no clue what he was talking about.

"For the past 14 hours he has been sending out links to Geocities-looking websites and arguing with people about evolution on Twitter," Law wrote. "Despite hundreds of people letting him know that he's wrong, Schilling continues to show his ass to the world."

A source said Law will be able to go back on Twitter on Monday.

Schilling demanded proof of evolution, writing, "Show me ONE fossil, ANYWHERE [sic] in the world that is a 'miss,' a creature in between two creatures as it evolved? Doesn't exist," CNET reported.

Law responded with a few tweets expressing his annoyance with Schilling's statements.

"Seriously, if someone says evolution is wrong because there aren't fossils between monkeys and men, find a monkey and hit him with it," one of the tweets reads.

The writer added that there were hundreds of transitional fossils and offered Schilling a link to a Wikipedia page called "Lists of Transitional Fossils."

ESPN told the sports blog Awful Announcing that Law wasn't suspended because of his opinions on evolution, adding that it doesn't like to see its employees have a public argument about a "politically polarizing" topic, CNET reported.

Law has since been using Facebook to continue his defense of the subject.
