A Vermont woman allegedly drunk on red wine shot and killed her fiancé and his son hours after he broke off their engagement, police said.

Robin O'Neill, 62, pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of second-degree murder for the Tuesday killings of Steve Lott and his son Jamis Lott at a home in Townshend, Vermont, the Associated Press reported.

According to a police affidavit, O'Neill told investigators she had been engaged to her 60-year-old fiancé since July. But their relationship grew "weird" when Lott started hanging out with another woman friend in September.

Their relationship deteriorated, with the two arguing more and Lott at one point turning abusive towards O'Neill, she told police according to the AP.

Lott broke off the engagement as the two drove to work on Tuesday morning, the affidavit alleges.

That night, drunk off wine, O'Neill said she doesn't remember the moments before the murder while Lott spoke to his 25-year-old son in the kitchen, who came over to do laundry, the affidavit said according to the AP.

She either picked up the gun or already had it in her hand but next thing O'Neill knew, both men were on the kitchen floor bleeding, the affidavit said. She then reportedly called a co-worker and confessed to killing the father and son.

Police on the scene, responding to the co-worker's call, said O'Neill seemed intoxicated when they arrived.

O'Neill is currently being held without bail.
