TGI Friday's is looking to put customers in the holiday spirit with a fleet of drones that hover over diners with a mistletoe.

The fleet made its debut Wednesday at a restaurant in the U.K. after the U.S.-based restaurant chain discovered through research that 47 percent of British people have never kissed under the Christmas plant, according to The New York Daily News. Deployment will begin in a Manchester TGI Fridays before the drones join restaurants across the country as Christmas draws near.

Other restaurants have already started to use flying drones at their restaurants, including a sushi chain in London that started using the technology to deliver food to customers last year, as well as Mumbai-based Francesco's Pizzeria, which has been delivering pizza with the machines.

The drones at Friday's will be tasked with hovering over customers with a built-in kiss cam and its mistletoe to share some romantic moments between diners, The Consumerist reported.

"Everyone loves a good Christmas party, but we all know things can be a bit awkward until someone breaks the ice," a Friday's spokeswoman explained, adding that the drones help make the situation more fun for shy diners. She also said the drone makes the restaurant a more fun place to go while bringing people closer together during the holidays.

"Who knows - maybe we'll have had our first mistletoe drone wedding by this time next year," she said.
