Another cable series has received a second life thanks to Netflix. The online video streaming service will air a fourth season of "Longmire," which previously ran on A&E.

"We're excited and honored to have the opportunity to bring this show that we love so much, and all its devoted fans, to Netflix," Longmire's executive producers said in a joint statement.

The new season will have 10 new episodes and premiere in 2015. The announcement comes less than a week after news of negotiations between Warner Horizon, the studio behind the show, and Netflix came to light.

"When Warner Horizon Television came to us with the idea for a new season of 'Longmire,' we were intrigued because the series is so unique, and consistently great. We are thrilled to help continue Walt Longmire's story for his large and passionate following," said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix.

"Longmire" stars Robert Taylor as the recently widowed Wyoming sheriff Walt Longmire and Katee Sackhoff as one of his deputies. The third season ended on a cliffhanger that left audiences wondering what happened when disgraced ex-deputy Branch Connally (Bailey Chase) confronted the killer of Walt's wife and a shotgun went off.

"Longmire" averaged 5.6 million viewers for season three, a slight dip from the nearly 6 million viewers it averaged in season two. The show did skew older but had the largest viewership behind only A&E's flagship series "Duck Dynasty."

Netflix already had the rights to stream the previous seasons of "Longmire." The situation is similar to the revival of the AMC-cancelled series "The Killing," which also streamed on Netflix before the video service picked it up for a third and final season.
