“Supernatural” actress Amy Gumenick is dishing behind-the-scenes details about her new role on CW’s “Arrow,” which wasn’t offered to her right away.

Gumenick landed the role of Cupid in the DC Comics TV adaptation. The actress told The Wrap she had to audition several times before landing a part on the show. Gumenick was even passed over to play Black Canary, which actress Katie Cassidy is now portraying in the series.

However. Gumenick refused to give up and met with casting director David Rapaport to continue auditioning for the show.

“It was a show I wanted to be a part of,” Gumenick explained. “I've since then auditioned for various other guest stars and recurring [roles] here and there, but the one didn't hit…

“But [Rapaport] is a loyal and an amazingly down to earth person who really believes in his actors. So, I would go in and do my thing and trust that if the right role was there it would happen.”

So when it was time for Gumenick to audition for Cupid, she was ready and nailed it. Gumenick told The Wrap she had fun portraying the antagonist, who is a killer with strong feelings for actor Stephen Amell’s character.

“We definitely get to meet this wild woman,” she said. “Cupid is described as a villain, but she's really driven by love and determined to get the bad guys. She specifically goes after several of Arrow's rivals and enemies in hopes of buying his love, so to speak.”

“There are definitely some murderous rampages that happen,” she added.
