The Miss World contestant from Honduras who went missing, along with her sister, was found murdered on Wednesday.

Contestant Maria Jose Alvarado, 19, and her sister Sofia, 23, were found buried near a river in the Santa Barbara region, Reuters reported.

"I can confirm that the Alvarado sisters were found ... We also have the murder weapon and the vehicle in which they were transported to the site where they were buried," Leandro Osorio, head of the criminal investigation unit, told local television.

The sisters were last seen Nov. 13 leaving a party in a car without a license place, Reuters reported.

Plutarco Ruiz, sister Sophia's boyfriend, is responsible for the double murder, Interior Minister Arturo Corrales said to local media, although Mirror reported that three others were also arrested.

The sisters were hanging out by their parents house in Honduras, the world's most violent country, just days before Maria was due to leave for the U.K. to participate in the Miss World competition.
