Kenyan women marched in protests against public attacks on women for wearing provocative clothing in Nairobi on Monday, according to The Associated Press.

Videos have been released of men surrounding any female they deem to be dressed provocatively and strip her of her clothing, the AP reported.

The latest of theses attacks occurred in Nairobi during broad daylight on a busy street, causing outrage, according to the AP.

Deputy President William Ruto called the incident barbaric and Inspector General Police David Kimaiyo has appealed to the victim to come forward, according to local media, The Daily Mail reported. Sex crimes are almost never prosecuted in Kenya.

The marchers, a mix of men and women but mostly women, waved banners and chanted "My Dress, My Choice", then marched across central Nairobi to a bus stop that was the site of the attack, according to the Daily Mail.

Twitter is being used as part of the protest and the hashtag #NudityIsNotMyChoice, and #MyDressMyChoice is trending, the AP reported

Kenya is a mostly conservative, Christian country and both men and women alike share the view that any female at any age should dress provocatively, according to the Daily Mail.

Some men gathered around the marching women with looks of disdain, according to the AP.

David Ndongo works on one of Kenya's mini transport buses known as matatus, where women also face harassment on a normal basis, the AP reported.

"It's like three-quarters naked if you are wearing one of those short skirts," Ndongo said, according to the AP.

Another said an African woman should be decent, the Daily Mail reported. "They are provoking us. And I think we should put in place laws to curb that," James Macharia, a 26-year-old student said.
