Federal officials seized 26 pounds of weed discovered inside a Jesus statue at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on Friday, WCPO reported.

Agents at the airport's DHL Express cargo facility were conducting a morning screening of the Jesus statue when a K-9 alerted officials to the scent of narcotics, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said according to the newspaper.

An X-ray was conducted and agents discovered the marijuana hidden inside the religious statue.

"This unique seizure demonstrates the extraordinary methods individuals will utilize in their attempt to smuggle narcotics," Cincinnati Port Director Richard L. Gillespie said in a statement. "This seizure further illustrates the vigilance of CBP officers in interdicting contraband entering the country."

Authorities had to drill into the plastic statue, of a white-robed Jesus, to reach the drugs, estimated to be worth over $20,000. Tests later confirmed it was in fact marijuana, CBP said.

The statue arrived in a package sent from Mexico and was meant to be shipped again to San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to CBP.

This isn't the first time U.S. Customs agents seized large amounts of pot smuggled into the country disguised as something else.

In June, over $1 million worth of weed was found hidden inside packages that were painted to look like watermelons.
