Google's Boston Dynamics has introduced a robot that will bring back memories for fans of the "Karate Kid" films.

The two-legged Atlas robot, called Ian, is able to stand on one leg and perform the "crane kick" that Daniel LaRusso uses to win the final fight in the 1984 film, according to The Daily Mail.

Features that make the Atlas robot one of the most advanced robots to date include 28 hydraulically actuated joints and stereo vision.

Ian may come off as terrifying to most people, standing at six feet and two inches tall, and weighing 330 pounds, Business Insider reported.

Additional abilities possessed by the robot include walking, carrying a hose and driving a car, all of which won the machine second place in the U.S. Government's Robo-Olympics.

Boston Dynamics said Ian is designed to travel on rough terrain in the outdoors, and that being able to walk on two legs allow it to lift and carry different objects, according to The Daily Mail

"Atlas is strong and coordinated enough to climb using hands and feet, to pick its way through congested spaces," the company added.

The Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) designed the software that gives Ian the ability to drive a car, saying its researchers focused on "nature" when trying to get the robot to perform actions that humans can, The Daily Mail reported.

"Inspired by the speed of cheetahs, the endurance of horses, the maneuverability of monkeys, and the versatility of humans, IHMC researchers are on a quest to develop legged robots that are fast, efficient, and graceful, with the mobility required to access many of the same places that humans can," the team said.

An off-board, electric power supply is connected to Ian with a flexible tether. The team is working on a new version of the robot that will have a more convenient power source.
