Warner Bros. and DC Comics may have found their Joker.

"Dallas Buyers Club" actor Jared Leto is in talks for the role of The Joker in David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" movie, according to several reports. The Hollywood Reporter claims sources close to production revealed that Leto is being strongly considered for the role.

The actor spoke with THR on Nov. 6, saying that he was close to signing a deal for a movie project but he couldn't give away any details.

"I do [have my eye on one project]. I am excited about what's happening," said Leto. "There are incredible opportunities and I'm very grateful for them. I'm looking forward to making films again now that the tour is wrapping up. It's going to be an exciting 2015."

When THR asked him what the project was, Leto replied that it was "under lock and key" and he was sworn to secrecy.

"I've sworn to keep my mouth shut but I think that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that's for sure," he said.

The Wrap also reported that sources confirmed that Leto was up for the role, adding that it was originally offered to Ryan Gosling but he didn't want "to sign a deal with options for multiple movies."

Sources also said that Margot Robbie, Will Smith and Tom Hardy are being considered for roles and Jesse Eisenberg could reprise his "Batman v Superman" role as Lex Luthor. Shortly after news broke that Leto was reportedly being considered for The Joker, Australian digital artist Kode Adbo (aka Boss Logic) released an illustration of what the actor would like in the iconic costume.

The picture is awesome, you can check it out below. The last actor who portrayed The Joker on the big screen was Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight."

David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" was given a release date of Aug. 5, 2016.
