Koei Tecmo has announced that an anime adaptation will be made based on its "Samurai Warriors" game franchise.

The announcement came during the "Sengoku Musou Chronicle 3" completion event on Wednesday, according to Anime News Network.

The anime will premiere in January 2015, and will run on channels TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi and BS Japan. The series will focus mainly on the war between the Toyotomi and Tokugawa armies, although Sanada brothers Nobuyuki and Yukimura will be featured as well.

The voice cast was also announced, and can be viewed here, along with the series' staff and production companies.

This is not the first anime depiction of the Sengoku or Warring States period of Japan's history. In 2008, "Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings" debuted in Japan, telling exaggerated stories of the campaigns against the "Devil King" Oda Nobunaga and Hideyoshi Toyotomi throughout two seasons.

Also featured were the ongoing rivalries between the "Tiger of Kai" Takeda Shingen and "God of War" Uesugi Kenshin, as well as between the "One-Eyed Dragon" Date Masamune and the "Tiger of Kai's Young Cub" Sanada Yukimura.

This series was based off Capcom's "Sengoku Basara" game franchise, featuring very different designs of each historic warlord. The anime recently entered its third season.
