Amazon.ca announced Wednesday that it is expanding its coveted same-day delivery to Toronto and Vancouver

Amazon, the largest online retailer, announced Wednesday that it is bringing its premium same-day delivery service to Vancouver and Toronto allowing Canadians to place orders as early as noon and get the product by 9 p.m. the same day. This service is a premium one, of course, but gives a discounted benefit to Prime members. Amazon has limited its same-day shipping to certain products on its shopping site but says it covers hundreds and thousands of options for Vancouverites, Huffington Post reports.

The e-commerce giant announced the new expansion in a press release  Wednesday, with Amazon's country manager, Alexandre Gagnon, confirming the operations to run all week including weekends.

"We're constantly working to speed up delivery times and introduce new services that make our customers' lives easier," Gagnon said in a statement. "With Same-Day Delivery, customers in Toronto and Vancouver can conveniently take care of errands or complete holiday shopping in a day with just a few clicks, receive orders seven days a week and have what they need delivered to their home in a matter of hours."

Amazon Prime members, the benefitted group of online shoppers, will get a discount on the premium same day shipping. They will pay a flat fee of $6.99 on top of the product's price for the luxury of having the items shipped the same day. Non-Prime members will have to shell out an additional $5 and pay the full $11.99 shipping fee on top of an additional $1.99 per item.

Amazon's same day shipping is not available in all neighborhoods. The online retailer has released a list of postal codes where the same-day shipping will be offered to its consumers.  Those who are living in the North Shore of Vancouver and some eastern suburbs are not included, CBC reports.
