San Francisco 49ers' general manager Trent Baalke had some choice words for his team during his weekly radio appearance on Monday.

In an interview with the hosts of 95.7 The Game, Baalke acknowledged that, at 4-4, something with the team was amiss, and went on to say that "there are some things broken," according to a report from Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News.

"What I mean is, when you're 4-4 there are certain things you have to do better. The only thing we know how to correct it is to go back to work. You can't keep doing the same things over and over, can't keep making the same mistakes over and over," Baalke said.

Former 49ers' quarterback Steve Young apparently was the first person to use the term "broken" to describe the current state of the team.

"They looked broken and I can't figure that out," Young told ESPN Radio in New York.

Baalke acknowledged that something with the team is off, and that the loss to the St. Louis Rams because of the offenses' inability to score from one yard out was "humbling."

"This league, this business has a way of humbling us all. On Sunday we were humbled. It's now how we are going to respond to it that's going to make the difference."

Baalke declined to place blame for the failed goal line attempt or the loss overall, but noted that sitting at .500 halfway through the season was not where he or the organization envisioned themselves being, and that every game is increased in importance from here on out.

"There's no room for error at this point. The separation between us and the division gets bigger with every lapse in our performance. Right now our backs are against the wall, and when backs are against the wall, you find out a lot about yourself."
