Audi to launch its most powerful production vehicle, the R8 Competition, at the coveted L.A. Auto Show next month.

Audi, the renowned German brand for luxury cars, is set to make an impression at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show next month where the car maker will unveil its most powerful production vehicle, R8 Competition. The company's flagship 2-seater has been around for years now, but the latest upgrade will make it even more appealing to its elite consumers. The 2015 Audi R8 Competition is inspired by the victorious Audi R8 LMS race car.

The Audi R8, which has been around since 2006, has successfully won the hearts of many. Thanks to the exquisite styling and the under-the-hood power, the R8 has a brand image. According to Business Insider, Audi is prepping up a replacement, expected to launch in the next few years, and the upgrade could just mean the car maker wants its successful 2-seater to be remembered. Audi itself has an extreme fan following and the limited edition R8 Competition is just going to add more steam.

"The limited-edition Audi R8 competition is the closest road car to our R8 LMS ultra race car that has won virtually every race around the world," Scott Keogh, President of, Audi America, said in a press statement, earlier this week.  "It is designed for the driving enthusiast and we're excited to bring 60 units as a limited-edition to the U.S."

To justify Keogh's comments about the new R8's close resemblance to its powerful LMS sibling, the Competition edition is powered by an upgraded 5.2-liter V10 engine capable of pushing 570 horsepower down the pipes through its 7-speed S tronic and a sport exhaust system. To put that in perspective, the R8 Competition can deliver 0.60mph in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 199mph.

As far as the car's exteriors are concerned, the iconic styling cues remain unchanged. Audi has added a lot of lightweight carbon-fiber elements such as a broad rear wing, front spoiler, rear diffuser and carbon trim inside. The car sports 19-inch gloss black alloys with Pirelli P Zero performance tires and is controlled by carbon-ceramic disc brakes. The matte-carbon theme is seen across the exterior and the interior but Audi's evolving personalization program will allow buyers to make their buy completely unique.

With only 60 models to be made, the R8 Competition will be available for orders starting next week and deliveries are expected in early 2015.
