A Massachusetts man who took off his court-ordered GPS tracker and allegedly went on a six-week cross-country raping spree is back in jail.

Gregory Lewis, 26, took off his court-mandated ankle bracelet that he was told to wear after being bailed out of jail for raping a 13-year-old girl in August, reports Boston Globe. He left his bracelet on his victim's lawn and went on his coast-to-coast journey, allegedly raping and robbing victims in several states along the way.

Lewis was caught yesterday driving in New York without a license plate, reports New York Daily News. When a trooper attempted to pull him over, Lewis sped off and crashed his Jeep Grand Cherokee into a river.

Before the car completely sank, Lewis jumped out with a gun in his hand, NY Daily News reports. He was then caught by police.

The gun in his hand was stolen from his step-father, reports NY Daily News.

Lewis is expected to appear in court on Wednesday in New York, but it's unclear what charges he could face because some of the investigations on alleged rapes and robberies by Lewis are still ongoing.
