When Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' hits theaters June 14 it will feature a Superman like we have never seen him before. Not only is Snyder rebooting the story of the iconic comic book hero but he has also done a reboot on the costume worn by Krypton's number one son, according to Yahoo.

In 2013 our superheroes need to look cool, not laughable. So Superman's costume had to be updated for the times. First, the red undies are gone. One of the most memorable, and certainly the most mockable, aspects of Superman's costume over the years has been the red briefs over the blue bodysuit.

Superman's new suit is a bit darker blue than the classic version and it looks almost like armor. It still has the cape and the "S", although, it's not really an "S," it means hope back on Krypton, according to the trailer. One of the costume designers, Michael Wilkinson, explained to Yahoo why the costume looks a little bit different.

"Rather than the traditional explanation that the suit was made from the cloth his parents wrapped him in when he was sent from Krypton, we establish it as a foundation, the undergarment all Kryptonians wear as a protective layer," Wilkinson said. "On Krypton, therefore, when we see Jor-El or the council members or the soldiers, they all have the same type of suit under various layers of robes and armor, and each bearing the glyph of his or her own family line."

When director Zack Snyder saw the new costume he was very enthused.

"I thought it was pretty epic," Snyder said. "When I saw the costume for the first time I thought, 'That's going to be our legacy, putting this new costume into the ether for all time.'"

Amy Adams, the Lois Lane to Henry Cavill's Superman, had a slightly different reaction the first time she saw the suit.

"I think I just giggled. That's what I do when I'm nervous," Adams told Yahoo. "He just sort of embodied Superman to me, and it takes your breath away."

Cavill told Yahoo about how once he put on the suit it was impossible to not feel, well, super.

"It's a very special thing, it really is....I can't really find words for it," Cavill said. "It was like a physical force - you put it on and you're wearing this thing and it's got an energy to it. And people behave differently around it as well."

Russell Crowe, who plays Superman's father Jor-El, told Yahoo about how much he laughed when he first saw the costume.

"There was a lot of comedy going on," Crowe said. "I never expected to be wearing four layers of unitard for a job. But, however, I have to say...it makes you feel powerful!"
