Misty Upham's friend actress Juliette Lewis paid tribute to the actress after she was found dead last week.

Lewis took to Instagram to post a friendly picture of her herself and Upham sending time together. Along with the picture, Lewis posted a lengthy caption, which read, "Misty exemplified the true power resilience and artistry of the human spirit."

"She lived through unspeakable violence and yet she was aware of her own power," she captioned the picture. "She did not fear death. She'd grown up knowing its hungry eyes well. And spoke freely of this. One of our last conversations was about this very topic ... She would readily tell you. She knew voicing things that were meant to break you was the only want to conquer the pain and past of it. Own your history."

She concluded her heartfelt post, writing, "I love you Misty. And I will not live in my regrets. I will honor your path. Accept what I can not control. And surrender it to the universe. Thank you for being the healing hand and steady guide you have been for many. And God Bless u for all you had to endure to show us how brightly you could shine."

Last week, Upham's family confirmed that the actress body was found along the White river in suburban Seattle. Authorities believed that the "August: Osage County" actress fell down a 150-foot cliff; however her death could have been prevented, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Upham's family released a statement that reads in part:

"But the real tragedy is this could have been prevented on a lot of levels. We pleaded with the Auburn Police to help us find Misty but Commander Stocker made the decision that Misty did not fit the criteria of the Washington State Endangered Missing Persons Plan. In a statement he gave to the press he said Auburn PD doesn't have any evidence that Misty is actually missing. This was an inaccurate statement."
