Google has introduced a new standalone app called "Inbox" that mainly operates around Gmail by organizing and highlighting content that is important to the user.

Google, the biggest web-based email service provider, is making things a lot simpler for regular email users. The web giant has introduced a new mobile app called "Inbox" to help users get the most out of Gmail without looking any further. Inbox by Gmail boasts several new features such as bundling similar emails together, highlighting important information in emails, setting reminders and a lot more.

Catering to the needs of its users, Google started building a separate app that gives more than just a standard email service. It is important to get the right content at the right time, so the Gmail team worked for years together to bring Inbox, a new service that is different from Gmail but entirely built around the Google's email platform.

"We get more email now than ever, important information is buried inside messages, and our most important tasks can slip through the cracks-especially when we're working on our phones. For many of us, dealing with email has become a daily chore that distracts from what we really need to do, rather than helping us get those things done," Sundar Pichai, SVP of Android, Chrome & Apps, wrote in a company's blog Wednesday.

"If this all sounds familiar, then Inbox is for you. Or more accurately, Inbox works for you."

Inbox brings a series of new features that make organizing emails simpler. With Bundles feature in Inbox, emails are grouped together based on their similarities. Users will find all bank statements, receipts and bills clubbed together in a single folder so it will be easier to get a glance of the important emails. Inbox also features adaptive feature to learn the way users group emails and perform similar actions in the future.

Inbox brings a useful feature called Highlights. As the name suggests, important information in an email such as flight info, photos, docs and more, is highlighted. In addition to displaying key information in an email, Inbox adds additional information from the web when necessary, like real-time flight status and package delivery status.

Google added Reminders to Inbox, so users do not miss out on the most important tasks. With the help of Assists, another Inbox feature, users can get any job done without a miss. When a reminder is added to Inbox, like calling a store, the app will provide contact info and working hours of the store by searching the web.

Currently, Google is testing Inbox with a select number of users. But, you can sign up for Inbox by requesting an invite to try the app. Or you can wait until Google rolls out Inbox to all users.
