Google is directly targeting iPhone and iPad users by releasing a new Switch website, a guide to help iOS users transit to Android's platform without a hiccup.

Google, the world's largest internet search provider, is taking advantage of its dominance to go after its closest rival - Apple. The internet search titan released a new website, aptly named Switch, which aims at converting iOS users to Android. By providing step-by-step instructions on how to move user data from iPhones and iPads to any Android-based device, Google hopes to win new customers for its leading mobile computing platform.

Changing mobile devices can be hectic, especially for the data transition that is required in the process. But if a user changes the mobile platform, the transfer of data becomes a nightmare unless you are tech savvy. Thanks to countless apps in the app stores and cloud integration, the process has been made a lot simpler but Google is making it easier for amateur as well as pro users to switch to Android seamlessly.

Switch, a dedicated website to show how users can switch to Android, details steps of how Apple iPhone and iPad users can transfer their photos, music and contacts to Android smartphones. In addition, the website offers specific instructions on how to set up email and find apps similar to the ones on iOS platforms.

To transfer photos stored on iPhone or iPad, Google suggests its own Google+ app. By using the "Auto Backup" feature, all photos will be synced back in the cloud and ready for use on an Android device. The Google+ app can also be used to upload music and videos to the cloud. The app offers unlimited private storage, but there is a 15GB cap for photos over 2048x2048 pixels and videos longer than 15 minutes.

Google also makes it simple for importing all contacts from iOS to Android. Due to different mobile platforms, users must first export all contacts to a vCard from iCloud web account. Ensure the contacts are synced from iPhone by navigating to the Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Accounts > iCloud > Contacts and then select merge. Once backed up, log into the Gmail and go to Contacts and import the vCard.

Google also notes that users must ensure turning off the iMessage feature on iPhone to avoid having the messages redirected to an old iOS device.
