A Thousand Oaks, California woman was arrested on Sunday after she became trapped inside the chimney of a man she met online, KTLA reported.

Firefighters had to use jackhammers to partially break the chimney to free the woman, who was later identified as 30-year-old Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa. Police responded to the scene after a caller said the woman had been stuck about 8 feet from the top of the chimney for two hours. The caller heard her screaming for help since about 3 a.m. Nunez-Figueroa was reported to be conscious during the rescue.

The chimney was coated with soap to provide lubrication before Nunez-Figueroa was lifted out, placed in a basked and removed from the roof by a ladder truck. The woman knew the homeowner, though the motive behind the attempted break - in is unclear. She was freed by 8:13 a.m., according to CBS Local.

The homeowner's name is Lawrence, but he didn't want his last name released. His chimney is now completely gone and will need to be rebuilt. He wasn't home the night the woman tried to break in, but confirmed to CBS Local that he did know her.

"It wasn't Santa Clause, for sure," he said. "Having someone in your chimney is like kind of a weird thing you wouldn't expect to come home to."

Despite what happened, Lawrence said he isn't distressed by the event anymore and is focusing on repairing the chimney.

"It's actually the second attempt for her trying to access the inside of my house from the roof," he said.

Robert Fisher was one of the neighbors that was startled by Nunez-Figueroa's cries for help. He said he took photos of the rescue and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"This woman was definitely in distress," Fisher added. "But no one knew where the voice was coming from."

Nunez-Figueroa has been charged with illegally entering a residence.
