Dropbox is not taking any chances with the security of its users' information that it stores online. The company has included Touch ID encryption in supported iPhone devices, allowing users to scan their fingers to unlock the Dropbox account. The support for Touch ID was rolled out to iPhone users in the form of an update Monday, which also includes full optimization for the latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones, MacRumors reports.

The Dropbox update for iOS hits version 3.5 and is the first to include Touch ID support. Apple originally opened its API for developers to include the security feature in third-party apps earlier this year, for better security.

The security upgrade by Dropbox comes just a week after the company allegedly faced a security breach on its service. Reports indicated nearly seven million Dropbox accounts were hacked and Bitcoin ransom was demanded to release more information. Dropbox, however, denied the reports and said the information was "stolen from unrelated services, not Dropbox."

Thanks to the update, iPhone users can now enable Touch ID recognition to unlock accounts. The feature is only available on handsets running iOS 8 and those using iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. If you have been hesitant to update your iPhone 5S to the latest OS version, the Touch ID support will cease to function.

Apple also updated its iPad lineup last week and announced the all-new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. So those who purchase the new tablets from Apple will be able to take advantage of the newly-added Touch ID feature to secure Dropbox accounts.

Dropbox has also updated the iOS app with full support for big-screened iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The cloud-storage company also fixed the bug that interrupted preview of rich text format (RTF) files on iOS8.

The updated app is available as a free download from Apple App Store and weighs 53.7MB.
