Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are reportedly inching closer to signing their “Suicide Squad” cast.

Deadline reports Margot Robbie, Will Smith and Tom Hardy are not just rumored cast member, but are nearing a deal with the film, which will be produced by Charles Roven. Previous reports claim Ryan Goseling’s name has been thrown into the mix, but he reportedly isn’t as close to signing onto the DC production.

The premise of DC’s “Suicide Squad” is a group of infamous super villains are given the opportunity to take on high-risk black ops missions for the government in exchange for lesser sentences.

In other DC News, Roven is also the producer for “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and recently spoke about the film during an interview for “The Hollywood Masters” series at Loyola Marymount School of Film.

Roven took a moment to explain why adding characters from different DC Universe to the “Man of Steel” follow up make sense now. Roven reiterated the reason why the “Dark Knight” trilogy worked on its own was due to its roots in reality rather than the supernatural.

“When we embarked on Man of Steel…one of the things we were doing was we were created a universe that had a superhero in it, because Superman is clearly a superhero, he has superpowers,” Roven said. “So once we did that, it was with the knowledge that, if the movie was successful and we expanded the universe, we were going to expand it and populate it with other, like characters.”

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. “Suicide Squad” will also be released some time in 2016.
