In 2008, Filipina songstress Charice Pempengco was painted as a sweet teenage girl with brunette locks and dreams of becoming a singer - now, six years later, she is opening up about her personal life after coming out as lesbian.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey for an upcoming episode of "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" the 22-year-old "Pyramid" singer revealed that she began to see females differently at the age of five.

"I was in grade school and I saw this girl and I felt different," Charice told Winfrey. "I didn't know what it was but I just knew that time, like it felt special. And when I was 10 I was like, 'Oh, that's it. I'm gay.' I found the word."

"So you struggled with transgender, did you? Were you thinking about transitioning to become a male?" Winfrey asked.

"Not exactly transitioning to a male, but basically my soul is like male," Charice revealed. "But I'm not going to go through that stage where I'm going to change everything - not change my body. I would change, like this look: Cut my hair and wear boy clothes and everything, but that's all."

Charice continued, "But I'm not going to go through that stage where I'm going to change everything-not change my body. I would change, like this look: Cut my hair and wear boy clothes and everything, but that's all."

During an appearance on "The Buzz" last year, Charie came out as a lesbian saying, "Yes, I am a lesbian" and later adding "I don't know what's the problem with that. Because for me, there isn't a problem with that."

The singer, who is now rocking short, blonde hair and a more masculine style, also opened up about her fears with coming out and her father's 2013 murder.

Charice's segment on "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" airs Sunday, Oct. 19, at 9 p.m. ET on the OWN.
