Hankering for more "Star Trek" since there's no new movie due for some time, and there's been no weekly show for quite some time either? Sure, you can watch your favorite episodes of the "Original Series," the "Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," or "Enterprise" on Netflix (there's even been a rumor floating about for some time now that Netflix wants to produce a new "Trek" series), but it's not the same as something new and exciting, is it?

Well, all you Trekkies out there are about to have your appetites for more "Trek" satiated. "Star Trek: Horizons" is a fan-made film that's set to release this winter. The project received well over $20k in crowdfunding on Kickstarter back in May, and while the acting seems a bit off to me, I have to say that overall "look" of the film (i.e., special effects, costumes, make-up, etc.) is spot on.

From the Star Trek: Horizons web site:

"'Star Trek: Horizon' is a feature-length film, made by fans in love with Star Trek that is set during the time of 'Enterprise' (the fifth Star Trek series). It is our goal to create a feature film that is worthy of the name 'Star Trek' and that can close out the story threads that were left hanging after 'Enterprise's' untimely cancellation in 2005.

However, if you have not seen any previous 'Star Trek' films or TV series, this close tie to 'Enterprise' is not cause to worry. While this film will close out story threads that began in 'Enterprise,' it will also certainly tell an original story and be able to stand alone as a science fiction feature film."

The first official trailer for "Star Trek: Horizons" has hit the internet, and you can check it out (at Warp Factor 8.5) below:
