Google finally teases the official name of Android L in a short YouTube video.

The letter L in Android L stands for Lemon Meringue Pie, Lollipop, Lava Cake or Lemon Drop is a question that has been doing the rounds for months now. Google's unique way of naming its Android OS versions after desserts has built curiosity among its followers. While it is widely noted that the next version of Android is being called Android L, it has been open season for guesses when it comes to naming the KitKat successor.

The internet search titan seems to be enjoying the guessing game by its fans, and has  fired up the curiosity levels with a new teaser video.

In a short video posted by Android's official YouTube channel Tuesday, Google shows casting of the next Android OS' name. The video features participants dressed up in various costumes, representing various desserts, which is Google's popular way of naming its Android versions. The web giant does not refer to its next Android as "L" but plainly calls it Android 5.0. The possible names shown in the video are much in line with the rumors in recent months

Android L may refer to Lemon Meringue Pie but the video shows other possibilities such as Lava Cake, Lady Finger, Lemon Drop and strangely Oreo too. At the end of the video, a tagline says "there can only be one L," of course.

Google nowhere mentioned Lollipop in its video, which has recently garnered several votes for being the right fit for Android L. But it is all in Google's play cards.

Considering the facts, Lemon Meringue Pie appears to be a good fit as previous leaks and builds of L Developer Preview with LMP references. But a Google developer also hinted that the L in Android L might refer to Lollipop, NDTV reported.

Basically, the video builds more curiosity among the audience. On the bright side, the launch is expected to happen soon and will put an end to all the curiosity.
