Microsoft welcomed a new app, Vine, to its exclusive Xbox One platform, allowing gamers to watch short, looping videos on big TV screen.

Microsoft, the renowned software making company, is expanding its apps portfolio for Xbox One gaming console with the addition of the official Vine app. The latest introduction on the coveted platform allows the owners of the next-gen gaming console to watch short, looping videos on TV. Available only to Xbox Live members, Vine's debut on Xbox One platform makes it the first time the app is available for viewing on big screen.

In an official post on the Xbox Wire blog, the company said the roll-out began Tuesday in 34 countries. They include Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Hungary, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States. Further expansion of the availability was not discussed but all major markets are covered in the first launch.

Introduction of Vine app on Xbox One is a continuation of Microsoft's promise in June to bring more apps by the end of this year. Vine was a part of the greatest app launch announcements made by Microsoft, which included Twitter, HBO Go, Showtime Anytime, Comedy Central, MLG and more.

Vine, which is best suited for mobile screens with its square videos, got big-screen optimization for its Xbox debut. The multiple browsing options remain intact, with channels like Art, Music & Dance and Comedy, as well as view playlists and navigating through other popular videos. Additionally, the new Xbox One app also supports voice commands and hand-wave gestures to navigate the UI, Venture Beat reported.

Vine will also serve as an alternative to Twitch, an app used to share personal game-play with other players.

Available for download from Xbox Store, Vine app can be snapped next to games, TV and other apps.
