They say love conquers all, but what if that love is for a white Volkswagen Beetle named Vanilla?

"This Morning" hosts Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden talked to Edward Smith, 63, who is married to "Vanilla" and claims to have had sex with nearly 700 automobiles, Gawker reported on Tuesday.

Smith is a mecaphile, which is someone who is sexually and romantically attracted to automobiles. Smith claims he lost his virginity at age 14 to his neighbor's Volkswagen - not Vanilla -  which awakened his sexual attraction to cars. Before that, he poured over automobile magazines in a way similar to how young boys would consume pornography.

Hosts Schofield and Holden tried to contain their laughter and managed to ask inquisitive questions about the man's strange, four-wheeled love life.

Smith bragged that he has slept with Mustangs, Jaguars and engaged in group sex in parking lots and showrooms. He also discussed his trysts with planes and helicopters. No real penetration is involved, he said, and claims it's about "hugging and holding the shape of the car close," the Daily Mail reported. The encounters never led to Smith getting completely naked in public, either.

He was never able to be physically intimate with the human girlfriend he had while in college during the 1970's. He said it wasn't a satisfying experience for him.

These days, Smith said he met "Vanilla," his alleged wife, while in a relationship with a different Volkswagen Beetle. "Vanilla" was being driven by a Jehovah's Witness church goer handing out literature, and Smith said it was "love at first sight." Years later, he was able to buy the same car from a dealership.

He does drive "Vanilla," but extremely carefully, because he says he would be devastated if he were to crash her.
