Ever since announcing their separation earlier this year, Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey's failed marriage has been the center of media scrutiny.

The 34-year-old "America's Got Talent" host appeared on HuffPost Live on Wednesday and opened up about trying to develop his career while dealing with his "personal life" in the public eye.

"Public opinion is the harshest thing about it. You kinda have to block out all that stuff ... because people are gonna have opinions and I always kinda came to that belief that, 'Hey, what people say about me is really none of my business," Cannon said.

"Every family, every relationship, all these people go through things and they deal with it the way that they choose to deal with it. But to have someone judging the way you're dealing with your personal life is always like, 'Hey, that's a little harsh.' But I also know what I signed up for," he added.

In August, Cannon announced that he and his wife had been living apart for several months. At the time, sources claimed that Carey was not happy with Cannon's decision to address the media about their relationship.

"If someone asks me a question, I know how to answer it. If I have to say, 'At this time I'd rather not say that,' or misdirect, but it's truly, at the end of the day, it's all about why these people feel or why the public feels like they need information and you have to tell them," he said.

Cannon said he is taking the split "one day at a time" and is trying to be "the best person [he] can possibly be at the end of the day," in an interview with Extra reporter A.J. Calloway,

The "Wild'n Out" host also commented on his wife's vocal issues during her recent concert in Japan, saying, "I just wish her nothing but the best, we're in contact constantly, you know you might have an off night here and there, but she's one of the greatest performers and entertainers of all time, she's not worried, we're not worried, just going to keep pushing."
