The fireworks will explode when Katy Perry rocks the stage at Super Bowl XLIX.

Perry will perform the halftime show at the University of Arizona Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, according to multiple reports. The game will air on NBC on Feb. 1.

"A deal is being hammered out for Katy to play the Super Bowl," an insider told Page Six.

In addition to Perry, the NFL had its sights set on Coldplay or Rihanna for the Pepsi-sponsored halftime show. The league may ask Perry and future performers to pay for their performance, unlike in previous years where the acts simply played for nothing more than a potential career bump.

"While notifying the artists' camps of their candidacy, league representatives also asked at least some of the acts if they would be willing to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig," The Wall Street Journal wrote in August.

The best-selling recording artist's decision to play the Super Bowl in spite of the NFL's payment proposal comes a week after she scoffed at the idea on ESPN's "College Gameday."

"I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl," Perry said during the Oct. 4 broadcast.

Bruno Mars' performance last year attracted a record-setting 115.3 million viewers, beating out Madonna's 114 million viewers in 2012. The 2014 Super Bowl attracted 111.5 million viewers for the whole game.
