Snyder spoke with IGN about the Joker’s big return at the end of the issue, which featured Superman with the villain's wicked smile on his face. The “Endgame” is the title of the story and is the conclusion of the Joker’s story arc, according to Snyder.

The DC writer discussed the story at length detailing what’s to come in the New 52 storyline to IGN. Check out some of the best quotes from the interview about the “Batman #35” issue below. Read the full IGN feature here.

Snyder on the Joker’s mentality and joining up with the Justice League:

“I was trying to think of a message the Joker could send that would say, ‘We used to be allies’ -- at least in Joker's mind – ‘We used to have a bond of some kind, and now that's broken.’ This story's been planned since, really, we were finishing Death of the Family, in some capacity. So I was thinking about what's the best way to send that message. You know, the people you trust the most are going to betray you, or that your friends are now your enemies; don't trust anyone.”

Snyder on if fans whether the Joker will have a face when he shows up in the series again:

“Joker's daughter had his face last we saw, so I think it's safe to assume he will have a face of some kind, without giving too much away, this time around... That [device] was tremendous fun to use, but I think part of the mission, or the challenge, is to make sure if you're going to bring him back he's going to be something very, very different and exciting. So there's a completely different visual design, a different purpose to him, a different tone to him. All of it is very different from the last time you saw him.:

Snyder on whether “Endgame” is Joker’s final chapter:

“Well, it's definitely designed to be, meaning -- I don't want to be that guy that says, ‘I'll never use the Joker again,’ and then 10 years from now use him, and I'm a big hypocrite. So I wouldn't say it's the last time I'll ever use Joker, but it's designed as a conclusion to a story that really began with the birth of our version of Bruce.”
