The bullet that killed a woman on her honeymoon came from a hit man hired by her new millionaire husband who wanted her dead.

Leopold Leisser, a male prostitute who had sexual relations with him in the past, previously claimed Shrien Dewani was desperate to get out of his marriage to Anni Dewani, reports The Week.

The state may argue that Shrien is gay and plotted to get out of the marriage that he was forced into by family, reveals The Week, who covered the trial. Shrien already admitted to being bisexual.

However, Shrien insisted in court that he was still in love with Anni, although they were "both headstrong and often argued with each other," the Week reported.

The day before Anni's murder Zola Tongo, the couple's taxi driver, contacted a friend named Monde, who passed along the contact information for Mziwamadoda Qwabe.

Qwable would later become Shrien's hit man.

"On the Friday I received a call from Monde [Mbolombo, a friend]," Qwabe said in court. "He told me that there was a job that needed to be done. Somebody wanted a job done."

Qwable continues, "I said, 'okay, you can hand my number over'. The guy's name was Zola. He told me that he has a job and we arranged that we should meet. We agreed that we would meet the following day, the Saturday. Zola was not known to me, only to Monde. He subsequently told me somebody wanted somebody to be killed. Do I know anyone? He asked what we needed. I said 15,000 [rand]."

At current exchange rates, 15,000 rand is equal to $1,340.91.

On the day of the meeting Shrien asked Qwable to do it that evening asking him to make it look like a cab hijacking - steal his phone and kill his wife.

And that's exactly what he did.

The murder occured in November 2010, but teh case was not tried until now becasue it was a lengthy extradition process to get Shrien to South Africa.
