"50 Shades of Grey" author E.L. James loves teasing fans about the upcoming and highly anticipated movie. Recently, she sent out a tweet that nearly caused fans everywhere to scream with glee.

Almost immediately James began to get replies begging the author to reveal who Grey could possibly be. This could be a ploy by James to keep her followers and fans interested in the upcoming production work or it could be a hint that Christian Grey has finally been cast. Of course, the author did not give any names but there is now a ton of speculation that James might have been referring to fan-favorite Ian Somerhalder in her mysterious tweet.

The day before James sent out that tweet, Somerhalder
tweeted to his followers that he was back in London.

"Wheels down in London-ciao beautiful Italy...," the "Vampire Diaries" star tweeted.

It has already been rumored that filming for "50 Shades of Grey" will take place in London and this is the second time Somerhalder has tweeted about being in London.

Back in May, Somerhalder almost caused uproar when he tweeted "Paris- it was short and sweet, thanks for the abundance of love. Great day in London, rehearsing new movie. So. Damn. Happy. Here. In. Europe."

He would not provide any more information about the project he was working on which left fans speculating that his new top-secret movie somehow involved the "50 Shades of Grey" movie.

On the same day as Somerhalder tweeted about his new project in London, James tweeted "London life..." further igniting the rumor that the two were in London together to do business about him playing Christian Grey.

Even though Somerhalder has not revealed what movie he is working on in London, it is being reported by Hollywood Life that the actor is currently working on the movie "The Anomaly," an action-packed thriller about a troubled ex-soldier who mysteriously wakes up in the back of a van with a kidnapped boy. The movie is said to be filmed in London (which explains his tweets) but fans still believe this is a step towards him landing the role in "Fifty Shades."

"If Ian's going to pull off being a leading man, he needs to cut his teeth as a second-leading man, if not a first," the Stir reports about the unexpected role. "Not only does it not conflict with the filming of 'Fifty Shades,' but the more practice Ian has, the better prepared he'll be to carry a giant movie like the epic sex trilogy based on the novel by E.L. James."

The website goes on to add that real fans know Somerhalder's "biggest, best and sexiest role is yet to come."

Somerhalder has been a fan-favorite from the very beginning. After his split with girlfriend Nina Dobrev, fans thought his chances of actually landing the role of Grey skyrocketed.

So, could Somerhalder still be in the running for Grey? And who do you think E.L. James was referring to?
