"Defiance," the Syfy TV show that ties in with the PC and console MMO of the same name, has been renewed for a third season, the game's publisher Trion Worlds has announced on the game's site.

"The New Frontier is changing," said Trion Worlds Creative Lead Trick Dempsey. "Votan and Human cities alike lay crumbling under the force of terraforming weaponry. Refugees flee onto the frontier, and warlords rise to stake their claim in the chaos. Is this the end of the Earth Republic? Will civilization descend into a new Pale War or will we rise above in a spirit of 'Defiance?'"

The game version of "Defiance" switched to a free-to-play model earlier this year to coincide with the premiere of the TV show's second season.

The third season will be released in 2015.

The MMO version of "Defiance" was released in 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Dempsey has stated in the past that Trion World will consider bringing the game to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 once the overall install base was greater on both of those consoles (i.e., they are actually sitting in more people's living/rec rooms).
