The Washington Redskins' defense wasn't the only thing that was stale at FedEx Field on Thursday night. As if an embarrassing 45-14 loss to the division rival New York Giants wasn't bad enough, Washington was selling World Cup Beer that Budweiser said "has passed its freshness date," Dan Steinberg of DC Sports Blog reports.

Instead of a cool and refreshing beer to wash away the bad taste left in the mouths of Redskins fans, patrons at FedEx field received beer from a World Cup that ended 2 ½ months ago.

Turns out, the freshness date ended in June.

This is not the first time the Redskins have been caught selling outdated products. In 2006 it was discovered that FedEx Field vendors were selling peanuts from an airline that had gone out of business a year earlier.

We knew owner Dan Snyder liked to cut corners - build teams through free agency, fire coaches on a whim, etc. - but this "beergate" is yet another example of poor leadership.

How can a franchise be expected to compete for Super Bowls when it can't even get fresh beer for its fans?
