The Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly traded three nonguaranteed contracts to the Boston Celtics for shooting guard Keith Bogans.  Is free agent Ray Allen no longer an option?

Cleveland completed a trade with Boston that shipped out three contracts in exchange for Bogans, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

"ESPN sources say the Cavs are in process of trading for Boston's Keith Bogans," Stein tweeted Thursday night.  "... Sources say Cavs are expected to package their three nonguaranteed deals (Erik Murphy, John Lucas and Malcolm Thomas) in trade for KBogans."

Boston acquired Bogans from the Brooklyn Nets in July 2013 as part of the deal that sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to Brooklyn.  He played in only six games for Boston before being excused indefinitely from the team in January for personal reasons.

Bogans's contract for next season is nonguaranteed.

Cleveland's addition of Bogans raises questions about Allen, who has yet to decide whether he will return for his 19th season.  Cavaliers general manager David Griffin spoke earlier in the week about the team's desire to add Allen but indicated he could only wait for so long.

"Ray is someone who fits us as a shooter," Griffin said Monday, via Fox Sports.  "His championship pedigree fits us at a really high level.  With James (Jones), Mike (Miller) and LeBron here, I think he'd feel comfortable with our group.  At the same time, it's possible he's not sure he wants to keep playing.  He's in no hurry to make a decision. We'll play that out as far as we can."

Cleveland is still expected to pursue signing a big man to help reinforce their depth in the paint.  One possible free agent target is Emeka Okafor.  It's also possible Cleveland isn't yet done wheeling-and-dealing.  Reported trade targets include Minnesota Timberwolves center Ronny Turiaf and Denver Nuggets centers Timofey Mozgov and JaVale McGee.
