Assistant coach Lawrence Frank has joined the Los Angeles Clippers after reaching a buyout agreement with the Brooklyn Nets, ESPN reports. Frank joins the staff of coach Doc Rivers in L.A.

Frank was the highest-paid assistant coach in NBA history last season in Brooklyn with a six-year, $6 million contract. The goal was to have Frank mentor rookie head coach Jason Kidd during his first season. However, their relationship quickly waned and Kidd demoted Frank during the season.

Lionel Hollins replaces Kidd in Brooklyn, after Kidd's departure to the Milwaukee Bucks. Hollins coached the Memphis Grizzlies from 2009-2013.

Frank formerly worked under Rivers while both were with the Boston Celtics, and was head coach in both New Jersey and Detroit.
