AT&T has a new stripped down bundle that includes its high-speed U-Verse internet, Amazon Prime along with HBO for $39 a month.

AT&T, the second largest wireless carrier in the U.S., is making subscribing to internet and media packages more affordable. The wireless carrier is offering its high-speed U-Verse broadband, one year of Amazon Prime along with HBO for just $39 per month. But there is a catch. Subscribers need to sign a one-year contract and the high-speed internet has a cap of 250GB per month.

Even so, the new bundle is a great deal for those who wish to get a decent TV and internet package without landlines or paying a whole lot for a full lineup of cable channels. The $39 bundle includes U-Basic, HBO and HBO Go and U-Verse Internet Max Plus with speeds up to 18Mbps. One year of free Amazon Prime membership throws in a bonus treat for subscribers.

According to Forbes, the one year membership for Amazon Prime includes all benefits such as free two-day shipping for select products and access to Prime Music and Prime Instant Video. In case of existing membership on Amazon Prime, the free one-year subscription will be added at the end of the current subscription.

The Catch

In small print, AT&T notes that termination of its one-year contract will attract a $180 fine and the whole set up of broadband and TV will be chargeable at $99, which is a one-off upfront cost along with $49 activation fee. On the U-Verse side of the bundle, if internet users exceed the 250GB limit, AT&T will charge $10 for every 50GB consumed in excess. The offer ends December 13, 2014 and is valid only for new residential U-Verse customers who place the order online.

It is also worth noting that the pricing of the bundle will skyrocket to its usual price after the end of the one-year period.

AT&T's chief rival Verizon also offers FiOS along with other competitors like Comcast (Xfinity) and Time Warner Cable. AT&T's bundle is unique because of the additional offering of Amazon Prime membership. Bundles from other companies only include high-speed internet and basic cable with HBO.
