Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes love being parents.

The 40-year-old "Hitch" actress gave birth to a baby girl on Sept. 16 in Los Angeles and despite no official announcement from the notoriously private couple, a source told People Magazine that "Ryan is madly in love with the baby" and that Mendes is "absolutely in heaven being a mom. She's never been happier."

The source added that Gosling and Mendes, who first began dating back in September 2011, are "just in awe of this beautiful person they created. It's a really special time for them."

An insider told E! News that Mendes is "so good with kids and has been wanting this a really long time. When she found out she was having a girl, she was freaking out. She kind of wanted a girl deep down, but of course just wants a happy and healthy baby! Ryan is saying he is going to be overpowered with girls in the house and is gonna have to be extra manly around the house!"

Gosling's mother Donna Gosling, and sister, Mandi Gosling, have reportedly flown to Los Angeles to meet the newest addition to their family. Mendes' mother, Caridad Corrales, has reportedly also been hands on with the newborn.

"Ryan's mom and Eva's mom have both been helping," the source told People. "They have both been great. The grandmothers are both very excited and both very hands-on - as much as they can be."

The couple has yet to reveal the newborn's name, nor have they ever confirmed Mendes pregnancy. A source told E! News that the pair are over the moon regarding their daughter's birth - even shedding a few tears when first meeting their daughter, who reportedly has Mendes' features.

Gosling is a hands on father, with a source telling E! that he "changes diapers and rockers her to sleep." The source added that the couple gave their newborn "her first bath together and videotaped the whole thing."

"All her friends love Ryan and Eva together," another source dished. "He tells her how sexy and perfect she is all the time...he's really romantic. They are both so happy and in love. They wanted to start a family for a while now."
