Apple fans are disappointed to hear that out of all the features on the tech giant's iOS 8 mobile operation system, Camera Roll isn't one of them.

The Camera Roll traditionally served as feature that listed all of the photos that the user has ever taken with their Apple device, according to Business Insider. However, the Cupertino, California-based company decided to replace the feature with "Recently Added," a folder that holds every photo taken and deleted in the past 30 days.

The absence of the Camera Roll presents several concerns for users, such as not being able to tell whether or not their photos are stored in iCloud. When photos are deleted from the "Recently Added" folder, they are sent to the "Recently Deleted" folder instead of actually being deleted. Users will have to delete photos from this folder to get rid of them for good, or else the photos will stay on their device for 30 days.

Apple users took to Twitter to express their criticism of the company's decision to remove Camera Roll, with some users preferring the feature as an album for photos and others deciding to downgrade to iOS 7.1.2 to keep the feature, Business Insider reported.

". @tim_cook 'don't fix what it isn't broken' eliminating #CameraRoll what a mess! what happened with keeping ALL your customers happy?" wrote user Qimaera.

The Camera Roll has a long history with Apple, having been introduced with the first-generation iPhone by then-CEO Steve Jobs, Apple Insider reported.

Despite the displeasure with the iOS 8 update, photos taken with the Camera Roll will remain in users' devices. Camera Roll fans will have to settle for Collections, a feature designed to make it easier to find old photos by organizing pictures based on when and where they were taken. Collections is included in the Photos tab at the bottom of the Photos app.
