A Georgia man is dead after a teenage girl and her boyfriend attempted to steal his PlayStation 4 after he put a for sale ad on Craigslist.

Daniel John Zeitz, 28, arrived at a Sandy Springs apartment parking lot the night of Sept. 12 to meet potential buyers for the PS4 he listed on the advertisement site, Sandy Springs police told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Once in the parking lot, Zeitz approached the vehicle belonging to the buyers - Nathaniel Vivian, 20, and his 16-year-old girlfriend, whose name has not been released.

Vivian, who was in the driver's seat, tried to grab the system from Zeitz and drive off. As the two struggled, Vivian's 16-year-old girlfriend pulled out a .25-caliber handgun open fired. The bullet passed through her boyfriend's hand and struck Zeitz in the side, killing him, the AJC reported.

The girlfriend's 16-month-old daughter was in the back seat of the car.

Sandy Springs police arrested the girlfriend and Vivian when he arrived at a local hospital to receive treatment for his hand. Police said Vivian initially lied about how he was shot.

"Brookhaven police were at the hospital interviewing the injured man, who told them he was a victim of a crime in Brookhaven, but later told them he was shot while he and his girlfriend were at the Legends of Dunwoody Apartments to rob a man of his PS4 video gaming system that was advertised on Craigslist," Sandy Springs Police Sergeant Ron Mormon told the newspaper.

The 16-year-old is expected to be tried as an adult for the alleged murder, prosecutors told the newspaper. Her baby girl was handed over to her family. Vivian as ordered held without bond.

Zeitz, from Roswell, was a noted online gamer who went by the name "Phobos." His gaming teammates have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the funeral. Nearly $23,000 has been donated as of Saturday.
