I must admit that I'd given up on the Final Fantasy franchise after Final Fantasy X on the Playstation 2 annoyed me to no end, but this new trailer for Final Fantasy XV which was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show this week has certainly piqued my interest. The combat appears to be extremely fluid and visceral and, of course, there's a healthy dose of angst-ridden, spiky-haired heroes fighting the good fight. There also seems to be a deal of driving (no chocobo racing/riding??) thrown into the mix for good measure. See for yourself below:

According to the fine folks at Mashable, it's been over a year since this next installment of the venerated franchise was last shown in any form; that being a rather lengthy trailer which aired during Sony's 2013 E3 presentation. FF XV has been in development since 2006...meaning that rabid fans have been kept waiting for this game since last generation of new consoles (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the Wii) were released.

This trailer seems to acknowledge this fact as the main character, Noctis, contemplatively stares off into the distance while uttering: "It's been a long time coming. Almost there."

Final Fantasy XV is due to be released in 2015 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There will also be a demo for the game coming in March 2015.
