Virtual reality is making it possible to go on vacation without leaving town.

Marriott Hotels are introducing Oculus Rift technology at select hotel locations that make you feel like you are on a Hawaii beach or the streets of London. Not only is the virtual reality booth teleporter 4D, but it also includes sensory elements such as heat, wind and mist, according to NBC News.

Only one virtual reality booth teleporter exists so far. The hotel is sending the teleporter through eight American cities (New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Dallas, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco) from today through November 16, according to a press release.

"The tech has been there for a while, the application has been there, but now that it's becoming accessible and mainstream, we wanted to be the first to jump out there," Michael Dail, the company's VP of global brand marketing, tells Wired. "We wanted something more immersive, more experiential, that helps people connect with that feeling of what travel's really about."

Second Life CEO Philip Rosedale said earlier this year that we should expect virtual reality devices will likely be available for people in their own homes in the near future.
