Does a seminal film like "Blade Runner" truly need a sequel? Personally, I think not, but it doesn't really matter what I think because a sequel is already in the works.

Screenwriter and producer Michael Green recently completed a draft of the script, and has handed it off to director Ridley Scott, according to a report at Den of Geek.

While Green was reticent to reveal anything concrete in terms of overall story or plot points, he did have this very interesting morsel of information to share:  "As far as I know, Harrison Ford (who played Blade Runner Rick Deckard in the original, 1982 film) has read it and liked it, but that is hearsay," he said. Green then added, "I can tell you that working with Ridley Scott is a career highlight, and one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. They say don't meet your heroes...in the case of Ridley Scott, go ahead, you'll only revere him more."

One would hope that Green does like working with the legendary Mr. Scott because he is also currently working on a script for a sequel to Scott's 2012 film "Prometheus," and an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 2001 novel, "American Gods" for the Starz cable network.

If this film ever actually does get made, it will certainly need a bit more backing than just the 72-year-old Ford "liking" the script. Stay turned for more information as it develops.
