Jack Elway, the son of Denver Broncos general manager and Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, has pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace following an incident in which he allegedly pulled his girlfriend from a car and threw her to the ground, ESPN reports.

The younger Elway entered a plea Tuesday in which prosecutors withdrew an assault charge. He was sentenced to one year of probation, which includes domestic violence counseling.

Elway was arrested in May when his girlfriend told Denver police that he pulled her from a car by her hair following an argument. She said he threw her to the ground when she tried to get back inside the car.

According to police, Elway then left the scene and was arrested at his father's home in suburban Denver.

Court records show that the plea stipulates Elway is prohibited from possessing firearms and contacting the woman in the case.

The Broncos have declined to comment on the matter, describing Elway's court case as a private family matter.
