Regardless of what you think of Microsoft, you have to admire its chutzpa.

The Redmond-based corporation already has its own line of tablets in the form of the Surface 2 and Surface 3 Pro. Both the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 3 can be equipped with keyboard covers that truly enhance the tablet experience. Microsoft cannot possibly offer that same kind of integration with iOS and Android tablets, but it's doing its level best to at least cater to the competition with its new Universal Mobile Keyboard. The keyboard supports both Android and iOS devices, as well as Windows devices, with a switch allowing users to seamlessly toggle between OS operating modes.

In an effort to show that it really does understand the users it hopes to sell to, there is a "Home" key, which will be familiar to Android users, and a "Command" key, which should be very familiar to those with Apple products in their homes. The keyboard connects via Bluetooth, has an integrated battery that can last for up to six months with typical usage and has a removable stand that protects the keys when not in use.

Microsoft's Universal Mobile Keyboard will ship this October with two color options available (black or white), and will be priced at a reasonable $79.95.
