Los Angeles Lakers guard Jeremy Lin could have a huge season under coach Byron Scott, according to one Lakers beat writer.  The team, meanwhile, still appears to be eying soon-to-be free agent Alonzo Gee and current free agent Michael Beasley.

Lin, who's expected to come off the bench behind veteran Steve Nash, could thrive in Los Angeles under Scott.  Jose Ramirez of Lakers.com pointed Scott's history of working with point guards as a reason why "Linsanity" could have a renaissance this year.

"Having solid pick-and-roll bigs like Ed Davis and Jordan Hill and a pick-and-pop big in Carlos Boozer to complement his skillset should benefit Lin, but perhaps the most important key to unlocking his offensive potential will be new head coach Byron Scott," Ramirez wrote Thursday.  "In the past, Scott has coached some of the league's best pick-and-roll guards, such as Chris Paul and Kyrie Irving.  Lin's ability to slice to the hoop and make intelligent passes could be a critical weapon as Scott implements his new offensive system."

Another player who could thrive with Scott is Gee, who has experience playing for the first-year Lakers coach.  Gee, who's currently with the Houston Rockets, is expected to be traded to the Sacramento Kings and then waived.  If he clears waivers, Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders expects the Lakers to pursue the small forward.

"A team to keep an eye on is the LA Lakers," Kyler wrote.  "Gee had his best seasons in the NBA under head coach Byron Scott and the Lakers have a real need at the small forward spot."

Los Angeles also appeared to be eying Beasley, whom the team worked out twice.  The Lakers' interest in the free agent, though, has since appeared to dwindle, reportedly because of a disagreement over the price tag Beasley asked for.
