A California woman opened her trunk after she finished grocery shopping at a local Walmart store and was appalled when she found the dead body of a neighbor inside.

"It's very unusual," Sgt. Amador tells CBS Los Angeles. "It's one of a kind. I mean, we do get bodies in trunks. But to open it up and say they know him. And didn't know they were in there, that's unusual."

Detectives are now working on determining how Miguel Angel Perez's body got in the gold Lexus GS 300, and how long he was there. An autopsy has not yet been completed. Police believe the victim was killed in Pomona, which is where the car owner lives.

Witnesses said the woman who found the body had a hard time dealing with the gruesome sight.

"She was freaking out," Robert Lugan, a bystander, told CBS Los Angeles. "They [police] had to put her in a squad car and take her home."

As the investigation continues, police are eliminating the woman as a suspect in the man's death, reports Huffington Post
