Tom Hiddleston needed a little practice perfecting Hank Williams' vocals before taking on the role of the legendary musician.

Hiddleston made a surprise appearance at the Wheatland Music Festival in Michigan this weekend, according to E! News. He performed two of Williams' songs: "Move It On Over," and "I'm So Lonsome I Could Cry" which he sang with Rodney Crowell.

The "Thor" actor will star in the biopic "I Saw The Light" next year. The film will chronicle the short but impressive life and career of Williams, who died of heart failure at age 29. Filming begins next month in Louisiana.

This wasn't the first time Hiddleston sang on stage. He serenaded audiences at the Berlin premiere of "Thor: The Dark World" last year. Once he started the song, his co-star Chris Hemsworth wouldn't let him off the hook without singing a few bars.

He also led a rendition of "Bare Necessities" with Christina Hendricks at Walt Disney's D23 Expo and changed the lyrics of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" to "Get Loki."

Hiddleston may take on another iconic role in the remake of Ben-Hur, according to Deadline. The original film won a record-tying 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Charles Heston as Ben Hur, the role Hiddleston would play.
