CEO of McDonald's Don Thompson claimed he lost 20 pounds while still eating meals at the fast food restaurant every day, Mail Online reported.

Thompson, who has only been in his position for a year, was responding to questions about how McDonald's is dealing with the obesity problem in America. In response he called attention to his slimmer figure, claiming that he had lost the weight while still eating his daily McDonald's.

The CEO did admit that the weight loss was more a result of getting exercise, and had less to do with eating the lighter options that McDonald's has been advertising.

He said that getting active was his key to success, stating that it's rare to see Europeans who are "very, very heavy" because they do a lot of walking.

"And so I think that balance is really important to people," he said.

Thompson claimed McDonald's salads actually only make up about two to three percent of all McDonald's sales, and the company has already taken two of them off the menu.

He said instead of trying to advertise their salads even harder, the company will most likely go back to what they do best, pushing items like their hamburgers and chicken nuggets.

"I don't see salads as being a major growth driver in the near future," Thompson told New York investors, Bloomberg News reported.

The salads may be having problems with sales because they often have as much fat as a Big Mac, according to Mail Online.

Thompson claimed that the company will still sell vegetables, according to him some of the new McWraps have items such as lettuce, cucumber, and tomato in them.

McDonald's salad first hit the shelves in 1987, they have already gotten rid of their Fruit & Walnut salad, and are discussing discontinuing the Caesar Salad.

After the announcement McDonald's shares dropped 2.2 percent.
