Motorola is challenging its rivals with a revamped Moto X smartphone at an affordable price point. The all-new Moto X is built on the same platform as the original Moto X but features upgraded specs right from its processor to camera and display to the materials used. The company announced the new handset alongside a slew of other gadgets like the new Moto G, Bluetooth earpiece called the Moto Hint, new power bank called Micro and the coveted Moto 360 smart watch during an event at its headquarters in downtown Chicago Thursday, CNET reported.

Compared to the original Moto X, the latest model has come a long way. First off, the screen size is boosted from 4.7 inches to 5.2 inches with upgraded 1080p resolution for the display, according to the company's official webpage. The smartphone draws its power from the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 with quad-core clocking speeds at 2.5GHz and sports 2GB RAM. It features a curved metal frame along with customizable real wood, leather and colorful body. Buyers can choose from a wide range of back finishes ranging from colorful hues, wooden finish and genuine leathers.

The new Moto X smartphone features an upgraded 13-megapixel camera that can shoot 4K video and a front 2MP front shooter that can capture 1080p images and videos. Google promises latest Android updates to the new flagship and runs latest Android 4.4.4 version out of the box. The smartphone also adapts to users' preferences and features improved voice controls for seamless interaction with the phone. If you wish to feel the taste of some fictional characters like Tony Stark in Iron Man, the Moto X is game for it, as it responds to different names like "Jarvis." Google's standard "Ok Google" command also works in addition to new "Moto Phone" name.

The battery is slightly upgraded from 2,200mAh to 2,300mAh and adds just 5grams of additional weight post alterations.

The latest Moto X will start shipping in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia starting later this month for $499.99 off contract and $99.99 with a two-year contract, Motorola said on Thursday.
